Breast Enlargement

Breast enlargement, alternately known as breast augmentation or augmentation mammoplasty, is a procedure whereby a surgeon will surgically enhance a woman's breast by making them larger. The method used for increasing a woman's bust size is by surgically placing a breast implant within the breast in order to enhance the appearance, size, and shape of the breast.

The medical procedure usually employed consists of an incision. This is surgery, usually done within a sterile environment, by a trained physician, usually a plastic surgeon.

There are two kinds of implants available to the woman who is considering breast enlargement. One breast implant used is filled with silicone. Another breast implant used is one that contains a sterile product called saline. There are restrictions on the use of silicone (for safety reasons), so the most common type of breast enlargement implant used today is the saline filled implant. Before making a decision on whether to have your breast enlarged, it is important to consult your doctor. This information is not meant to take the place of a doctor's opinion and we strongly urge you to consult a doctor if you are considering breast enlargement surgery.
